Mixed-Media Sculpture (2025-2026)
In my mixed-media sculptural work, I use everyday materials such as wire, cardboard, spray paint, gold leaf, wax, and screen mesh, transforming them into suspended, freestanding, or wall-mounted forms with surfaces fully reworked and unrecognizable from their original state.
Iām drawn to the tension between these humble materials and the sculptural presence they assume through layering and refinement. The organic geometry, restrained palette, and richly textured surfaces create a dynamic counterpoint to the architectural environments they inhabit.
The first work in this series, Suspended Forest, began as a ceiling-mounted installation, though it also looks great on a wall. Constructed from recycled cardboard and mixed materials, these pieces reflect my commitment to sustainable practice. I take a common, overlooked material and transform it into something extraordinary. While visually weighty, the forms are surprisingly light and structurally durable.
There is something sublime to me about reshaping cardboard into the suggestion of a forest, and something beautifully absurd about applying gold leaf to a surface so often deemed disposable. That tension between the precious and the ordinary, the fragile and the strong, continues to guide the work. The low-relief forms may be installed as shown in these images or reconfigured to suit your space.
